Bank Myna – Eimuria

Hailing from France, Bank Myna is a cathartic band that combines post-rock, drone, doom and other sonic experimentations to create a deep, mystical universe. The tension is the key element in their music and they’re pretty resourceful when it comes to direct the emotions.

Eimura is the second record from the Parisian band, and even its a more direct album than its predecessor Voleverunt, it feels like a rollercoaster of emotions. At times loud and intense, at other times minimalist and profound, the sound atmospheres alternate and serve a more assertive narrative, where the solemn slides irrevocably towards distortion, bringing an electric fury that we hardly knew existed within Bank Myna, as a counterpoint to the airy melancholy. No Ocean of Thoughts is an isntrumental intro that slowly builds the atmosphere, and following The Shadowed Body combines vibrant bass line with building percussion and introduces Maud Harribey’s haunting, hazy vocals. However, my favourite track is the Burn All The Edges, which is a bit more focused on post-rock/metal riffs and has that amazing final with a heavier approach.

If you’re into bands like AMENRA, SWANS, CHELSEA WOLFE, MESSA and the like, Bank Myna will surely be a great discovery. Eimuria is a dense record with full of sonic layers and emotions, and welcomes everyone who dares for a process of personal transformation.
