Solar Angels – Solar Angels
Inspired by the golden era of heavy music, Solar Angels formed in 2019 to capture the raw, living energy of early 80’s heavy metal / NWOBHM. From amplifier to straight to the ears, the band reaches for the roots of heavy metal both musically and production wise.
Their self titled EP was released on July, and I can’t get enough of it since the first time I’ve listened it about a week ago. There are 5 songs and each one of them is a living proof that you can’t just compete with that natural, honest, pure heavy metal approach. You can hear JUDAS PRIEST, VAN HALEN, BLACK SABBATH and all the forefathers, and I really enjoyed the organic sound/production. Great bass, breathing drums and gritty, raw vocals are all very clear here.
Since mainstream metal is all about triggers, effects and always bringing something new to the table, I think Solar Angels is ironically a breath of fresh air with its nostalgic music and I strongly recommend songs like Stranger in Me, Metal Works and Till You Last Cry (basically, the whole EP) if you’re more into 80’s rather than ’20s. Nothing fancy maybe, but it just works.
