AtteroTerra – Guillotine
AtteroTerra is a one-man metal project from Las Vegas, NV, created by multi-instrumentalist Travis Perry. Project is active since 2009 and Perry released 3 full length records under the moniker. Blending elements of thrash, death, black metal and incorporating groove/melodic ideas, there is a rich and modern metal approach here. New EP Guillotine will be released on February 6th, 2026, a visceral response to the current governmental clusterfuck of the US. I enjoy metal records being aware of the current situations of their environments, and AtteroTerra is pretty vocal about the corruption of the system.
Songs are quite straightforward here but Perry threw couple curveballs as well. Lead single The Worst Is yet to Come is a stand-out with its heavily Gojira-esque groove section and dynamic transitions. Although a self-recorded DIY release, production quality is top-notch and Perry’s ability to craft fluent songs are remarkable. Hirudinea surprises with its eerie riffs and pitch-harmonics, while Plaguebringer brings back the death/thrash aggression and groove with wints of black metal.
Promo text includes this sentence Perry said about the EP: “I don’t know that I’ve ever felt such constant and corrosive rage as I have throughout the writing of this EP”. It actually sums up the overall vibe and atmosphere of Guillotine. This is a really aggressive, raging record of a man who is very angry about the inanity of team-sports-style politics, mob mentality, the anger of a protective father, and the cult worship of the US’s current president.
Guillotine will be avaliable on February 6th, 2026. Spare 20 minutes and give it a spin.
