Ishimura – Saudade EP

We are here with Ishimura, a new band from Novi Sad, Serbia, aiming to make their mark on the global stage. Although the band was formed in the summer of 2024 and is still very fresh, they wasted no time and released their debut EP, Saudade, featuring four tracks. Like many other modern deathcore bands, they incorporate elements from black metal, aiming for a broader approach to the genre. The short track durations hint at the sharp and concise style they’ve adopted.

I quickly warmed up to the band, especially thanks to the black metal-inspired guitars that stand out in the first two tracks. With Planet of Pugs, they take a breather with more melodic guitar work. In the final track, Faceless Fall, they experiment with clean vocals. Generally, hearing clean vocals in such heavy works makes my hair stand on end, so I won’t comment too much, but had they avoided clean vocals altogether, this EP might have left a better impression on me. It’s also commendable that they don’t rely solely on breakdowns or settle for lazy deathcore centered around them. Overall, If you enjoy modern deathcore, you might want to spare 13 minutes for Ishimura and give Saudade EP a listen.
